Lawrence A. VandenBout
Lawrence VandenBout is a trial lawyer who specializes in first-party insurance coverage and bad faith disputes. Mr. VandenBout began his career at a preeminent insurance defense law firm in Albuquerque, NM, where his practice included defending insurance carriers on a variety of claims. Mr. VandenBout now focuses his practice on representing businesses, commercial property owners, and homeowners who have suffered property damage caused by a variety of perils and catastrophic events, including hail, wind, fire, wildfires, water loss, tornados, microburst, vandalism, and theft. He has successfully represented clients in federal and state courts, and in arbitration. Mr. VandenBout has litigated numerous cases against major insurance carriers recovering substantial benefits that were either wrongfully denied, delayed, or underpaid.
While Mr. VandenBout has successfully tried multiple cases, he understands that many times the most efficient and effective resolution to a legal dispute occurs outside the courtroom and through the process of mediation. He has been successful in negotiating many favorable settlements for his clients. Mr. VandenBout also utilizes his experience to counsel and assist clients in developing strategies for minimizing the risk of becoming involved in potential legal disputes in the future.
A native of southeastern New Mexico, Mr. VandenBout attended the University of New Mexico where he graduated, cum laude, from the University’s Anderson School of Management, with a concentration in financial management. Thereafter, Mr. VandenBout attended the University of New Mexico School of Law where he graduated, magna cum laude, in 2013. He excelled while in law school earning numerous honors, including a Dean’s Award for his significant contributions to the law school community, a Clinical Honors Award for his outstanding work performance in the Business and Tax Law Clinic, the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in several classes for attaining the highest grade in the class, and Dean’s List.
In 2014, Mr. VandenBout moved to Denver, Colorado where he continues to litigate first-party insurance coverage and bad faith disputes nationwide. In his off hours, he enjoys spending time with his wife and young children. He also enjoys golf and traveling.
